Friends of Canadian Broadcasting

Friends of Canadian Broadcasting (FRIENDS) is a Canadian public interest group.

The group monitors developments in the Canadian television and radio broadcasting industries, and organizes action campaigns when broadcasters engage in activities which are deemed contrary to the public interest.

FRIENDS is active in issues such as public broadcasting, concentration of media ownership, investment in Canadian content and production, foreign ownership of Canadian broadcasters and quality of local programming and news coverage.

FRIENDS has also established the Dalton Camp Award - an essay writing contest to encourage and recognize excellence in essay-writing on the link between democratic values and the quality of the media in Canada. Each year, up to two Canadians are selected to win a prize consisting of a bronze cast medal and $5,000.

Friends of Canadian Broadcasting is not affiliated with any broadcaster or political party.
