Fremlin

In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game, the fremlin is a type of fictional monster for player characters to encounter.

Publication history

Fremlins first appeared in the first edition AD&D module The Lost Island of Castanamir in 1984. In second edition AD&D, fremlins first appear in the Greyhawk Monstrous Compendium (1990) under the "gremlin" entry,[1] which was reprinted in the Monstrous Manual (1993), again under the "gremlin" entry.[2] The fremlin was detailed as a player character race in The Complete Book of Humanoids (1993).[3]

Description

Fremlins are a friendly, mostly harmless subspecies of gremlins featured in the Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition supplement, The Complete Book of Humanoids. Like other gremlins within the game, they are small, winged goblinoids, only growing to about a foot in height. However, fremlins tend to be plump and slate colored. They have large, pointed ears, bat-like wings that give them the power of flight, and an innate immunity to non-magical weapons. Fremlins shun clothing and ornamentation and refuse to use weapons.
