Frederick Frelinghuysen (September 30, 1848 – January 1, 1924) was the president of the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company in Newark, New Jersey, for 25 years.[1]
Biography
He was born on September 30, 1848 to Frederick Theodore Frelinghuysen in Newark, New Jersey. His brother was George Griswold Frelinghuysen. He graduated from Rutgers College in 1868 and was admitted to the bar as an attorney in 1871 and as a counselor in 1874. He married Estelle B. Kinney on July 23, 1902 and lived in Elberon, New Jersey. They had four sons and one daughter including: George Griswold Frelinghuysen II, who married Anne de Smolianinof; Estelle C. Frelinghuysen; Frederick Frelinghuysen; Thomas Frelinghuysen; and Theodore Frelinghuysen.[2][3]
He became president of the Howard Savings Institution. He resigned that post to become president of the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company.
He died in the Post Graduate Hospital in Manhattan, New York City in 1924 after a three week illness.[1]
