Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Franz Berger (6 August 1916 – 29 November 1942) was a highly decorated Hauptmann of the Reserves in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Franz Berger was killed on 29 November 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad. He was posthumously promoted to Hauptmann of the Reserves.
