Frank Fat's Restaurant is a Chinese cuisine restaurant in Sacramento, California founded in 1939 by a Chinese immigrant who entered the United States in 1919. The original restaurant is one of five now owned by the family.[1][2]
Frank Fat's celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2014.[3]
Frank Fat's is a 2013 winner of a James Beard Foundation Award as an American Classic.[4]
History
Frank Fat emigrated to San Francisco in 1919 at age 16 with neither money nor identification. He was later able to impress a man he just met to lend him $2000 to open a restaurant.[5]
