Fort Portal Airport (ICAO: HUFP) is an airport in Uganda. It is located outside of the town of Fort Portal, Kabarole District, in Western Uganda, at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, close to the International border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its location is approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi), by road, northwest of the central business district of the town. The geographic coordinates of this airport are 00°42′27″N 030°14′56″E / 0.70750°N 30.24889°E / 0.70750; 30.24889. This location is approximately 250 kilometres (155 mi), by air, northwest of Entebbe International Airport, the country’s largest civilian and military airport.[1]

Fort Portal Airport is one of the 46 airports in the country.[2] It is a small civilian airport that serves the town of Fort Portal and Kibaale National Park. It is privately operated by Christian missionary/pilot Jeff Cash. The Church of Christ and Where He Leads Inc. help maintain the airstrip. As of August 2011, the airport is not administered by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.[3] HUFP has also been registered under the owner's name of Jeff Cash. Situated at 5,030 feet (1,530 m) above sea level,[4] the airport is the third-highest airport in Uganda, behind Kisoro Airport at 6,200 feet (1,900 m), and Kabale Airport at 6,000 feet (1,800 m) above sea level.[5] The airport has a single unpaved 800-metre (2,625 ft) grass runway.
