The Former Hollywood Road Police Married Quarters (Chinese: 前荷李活道已婚警察宿舍) are located at No. 35 Aberdeen Street, Central, Hong Kong. The compound is listed as a Grade III historic building since 2010.[1] As of 2014 the site is home to PMQ, a not-for-profit social enterprise supporting Hong Kong brands and innovation.[2]

History

The compound occupies the block west of Aberdeen Street, between Hollywood Road and Staunton Street.[3] It is located on the site of the former Central School. The school was established in 1862 at Gough Street but moved to the Aberdeen Street location in 1889 and renamed to Victoria College.[4] At that time, the school was one of the largest and most expensive buildings in Hong Kong. It was renamed Queen's College in 1894. The campus was destroyed during World War II, and the school was subsequently relocated. The buildings at Aberdeen Street were demolished in 1948 and the Quarters were opened in 1951. They were completely vacated in 2000.[5]
