Florence Peak is a mountain located in the southern Sierra Nevada of California. It marks the southern border of Sequoia National Park and the northern border of the Golden Trout Wilderness in the Inyo National Forest.
The peak rises to an elevation of 12,438 feet (3,791 m), making it one of the highest mountains south of Mount Whitney.[5]
Geography
The high elevation of the peak means that most of the precipitation it receives falls as snow.[6]
The Franklin Lakes, a series of tarns, lie in a cirque on north side of the peak. In another cirque, south of the summit, are the Bullfrog Lakes. Most of these are at over 10,000 feet (3,000 m).[7]
