Flagstaff Mall is a regional shopping mall located in Flagstaff, Arizona, owned and operated by Macerich. The mall opened in 1979, and is anchored by Dillard's, JCPenney, and Sears.[1] Mall property also encompasses The Marketplace, an outdoor power center with big-box retailers The Home Depot, Best Buy, Cost Plus World Market, and Old Navy.

History

Flagstaff Mall opened in 1979, developed by Phoenix-based real estate company Westcor.[2] The mall's original anchors JCPenney and Sears had previously existed in downtown Flagstaff, but had moved to anchor the mall at opening. Dillard's joined the mall in 1986.[3] The property remained the same until 2005, when ground was broken on The Marketplace, an outdoor addition to the mall.[4] Phase one of the expansion, anchored by The Home Depot and featuring seven big-box retailers, opened in October 2008.[5] A planned phase two, consisting of an outdoor lifestyle center anchored by a Harkins Theatres multiplex, never materialized.[6]
