The flag of East Turkestan, also known as Kök Bayraq (Blue Banner), was adopted by the East Turkestan government on November 12, 1933.[1] It is a symbol of the East Turkestan independence movement.[2]
The flag resembles the Turkish flag, including a crescent and star historically representing Tengrism. The color blue represents the Gökturks, a group of ancient nomadic Turkic peoples. Gökturks translates to "Blue Turks".
