Five Forks is a census-designated place (CDP) in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 14,140 at the 2010 census. It is a growing, affluent suburb of Greenville and is part of the GreenvilleMauldinEasley Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Five Forks is located at 34°48′21″N 82°13′49″W / 34.80583°N 82.23028°W / 34.80583; -82.23028 (34.805912, -82.230346).[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.7 square miles (20 km2), all land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2010, there were 14,140 people and 4,541 households residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,045.7 people per square mile (403.8/km²). There were 2,855 housing units at an average density of 370.2/sq mi (143.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 90.91% White, 4.61% African American, 0.14% Native American, 2.48% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.81% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.33% of the population.

There were 2,679 households out of which 54.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 79.0% were married couples living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.1% were non-families. 11.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.01 and the average family size was 3.28.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 34.6% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 38.4% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 3.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.7 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $106,013, and $112,770 for families. Males had a median income of $65,458 versus $31,529 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $41,788. About 1.8% of families and 2.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.2% of those under age 18 and 7.6% of those age 65 or over.
