"First Responders" is the pilot episode of the American drama series The Unit, created by David Mamet. It originally aired on CBS on March 7, 2006.
Plot
The episode starts with leader Jonas Blane and teammates Mack Gerhardt, Charles Grey and Hector Williams in as they complete a mission involving destroying a factory up hill. The trio escapes. Bob Brown, the newest member of the unit, is given a suppressed M2-k by Jonas' old teammate, Ron Chields. A hijacked business jet situation in Idaho erupts and the team (minus Mack who is deployed again on another assignment) deploy for the operation. Jonas and the secure the area and breach the plane. Blane kills all the hostiles on board and detaches the bomb detonator. The team returns home and Bob discovers that his wife Kim Brown (who was adjusting to the shock of learning that her husband is part of the team trying to rescue the airline hostages through part of the episode) is pregnant with his second child. Jonas accidentally shoots a mirror caused by combat stress. It is revealed that Tiffany Gerhardt, Mack's wife, is having an affair with Colonel Tom Ryan.
