First Archipelago Expedition
The First Archipelago Expedition (Russian - Первая Архипелагская экспедиция; Greek - Ορλωφικά; Turkish - Orlov isyanı) was an operation in the Aegean Sea by a squadron of the Russian Baltic Fleet under the command of Count Alexei Orlov and Admiral Grigory Spiridov between 1769 and 1774, forming part of the Russo-Turkish War (1768-74). Its main action was the Turkish defeat at the Battle of Chesma.
