The Fiat Egea (Type 356) is a small family car,[1] previously known as Project Aegea. It was unveiled at the 2015 Istanbul Motor Show in May 2015, and commenced sales in Turkey in October 2015.[2] In 2016, it will be followed by an hatchback and estate version, for the European market. The saloon version will not arrive for the United Kingdom, although the other variants will.

The Egea is assembled at the Tofaş plant in Bursa, Turkey, by the Italian automaker Fiat as a world car in developing countries. It was built on Small Wide LWB platform and replaced the Bravo and Linea in the C-segment range. The Egea was designed by Fiat Style Centre, and co-developed by Tofaş, an joint venture between the Fiat Group and Koç Holding.

All versions are branded as the Fiat Tipo in the European market, disregarding the traditional distinction of its namesake between the Fiat Tipo hatchback and its saloon and estate sister car, the Fiat Tempra.

In December 2015, the car won the 2016 Best Buy Car of Europe award from the Autobest jury made up of Europe's 26 leading journalists from 26 different European countries.[3]
