Federico Ughi (born 1972 in Rome, Italy) is an Italian drummer and composer. He works primarily in the fields of free improvisation and jazz. Originally from Italy, he has lived in New York City since 2000, and is based in Brooklyn, New York. He attended music schools in Rome until 1994 when he moved to London, England.[1]

He has performed or recorded with Daniel Carter, Matthew Putman the group WAKE UP!, William Parker, Steve Swell, The Cinematic Orchestra, and others. He has collaborated with the poet Steve Dalachinsky.

Ughi is also the founder of 577 Records, an independent record label based in New York City, which he ran from 2001-2008. From 2013 Ughi started touring with electronic dream pop duo Blue Foundation, with tours and concerts around the US, Europe and China.

BLG of Downtown Music Gallery said about Ughi in 2006 "He just might be downtown's best under-recognized jazz drummer at present". and in 2009 was again described by BLG as a "free/improv wizard". Steven Loewy of Cadence Magazine said about Ughi "Federico Ughi is characteristically splendid, his drums serving as much more than a rhythmic undercurrent..."
