Foradian initiated and successfully implemented Fedena in the state of Kerala for all the government schools. The project was named as Sampoorna. The project was implemented in coordination with the Education Department of Government of Kerala, India to automate the system and process of over 15,000 schools in the state.

Background

Origins

The Fedena project is owned by Foradian Technologies, an internet engineering company based in Bangalore, India. In May 2009, Foradian started the development of a custom student information system for a school. Initially named as "Foredu" and later rebranded as "Fedena". Fedena 0.1 was launched in August 2009.

Name and Logo

Fedena was initially named as 'foredu', as it was the first educational software from Foradian Technologies. But the domain name was already taken and the development team thought of something unique and web 2.0 and they selected 'fedena'. It means the coolest thing alive, usually meaning something come from royalty or from wealth. The name fedena is also motivated from Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. Athena appears attended by an owl. So the creative team of fedena selected owl as the symbol and derived the logo from the face of an owl. Owl is also the symbol of wisdom and knowledge in many mythologies and beliefs.
