Plot

In a bid to spark more than a purely sexual relationship with Hank, Meredith convinces him to escort her to an environmental fundraiser. Before the event, Hank stops off at Karen and Bill's house to deliver a gift (a mobile phone) for Becca and learns coincidentally Karen is attending the same function. Karen asks Hank to be on his best behaviour at the fundraiser.

Charlie is also at the function and, when his secretary Dani comes, Hank notices something is going on. Hank also finds Todd Carr, who tells him he's not going to hit him again since Hank's affair with his wife convinced him to divorce her, which he plans on announcing to her that night. Karen has trouble with a man that calls her a "cunt", but Bill prevents her from retaliating and doesn't believe the man was a jerk solely based on Karen's word. Meredith introduces Hank to Jonathan Mandel and his wife Nikki, who Hank later learns is the married man Meredith is having an affair with. Hank tells her he doesn't mind, that he just wants to be warned and, if she wants chaos, he'll create chaos for her, right before passionately kissing her, which Jonathan sees and gets visibly jealous.

Meanwhile, back at home, Becca and Mia have a bonding moment, when the two state that they both miss a parent, Mia missing her mother, and Becca missing her father. Meanwhile Charlie is in his office taking erotic pictures of Dani in lingerie, when Hank walks in. Charlie freaks out and Hank calms him down before sharply reprimanding him for cheating on his wife with his secretary, which Hank describes a as a 'fat, fucking cliche.' Hank convinces Charlie to talk to his wife, since he thinks she deserves it and that she may be up to kinky things. Back at the party, Hank finds Meredith drunk and confronts her lover, stating that it is wrong for him to lead her on for five years with no intention of leaving his wife, Johnathon replies stating that when Meredith talks about Hank she says that he is a nobody and a loser. Hank doesn't lash out and instead calmly states that he should consider himself lucky because he promised Karen that he'd be on his best behavior. Afterwards, Todd Carr's wife comes from behind and throws a drink at Hank which hits Jonathan instead when Hank dodges it.

While leaving, Hank asks Karen if she's proud of him since he behaved like she asked him before. She tells him yes, but then mentions the man who called her a "cunt", is passing by. Without warning, Hank walks over to the man and knocks him out and kisses Karen goodnight, with Karen visibly pleased that Hank stood up for her without a second thought. At home, Becca asks Karen if she stills loves Hank. Meanwhile Hank takes a drunken Meredith to bed and nurses her, until his daughter calls on her new phone. Becca and Hank talk on the mobile phone that he gave her. She tells him she thought he was having trouble sleeping. She reminds him that, when she was little he helped her sleep by counting mermaids in the ocean. He begins to count the mermaids and then both he and Becca fall asleep on the phone.
