Fantasy is an action/adventure arcade game developed by SNK, which released the game in October 1981,[1] and licensed it to Rock-Ola[3][4] for North American release in February 1982.[3]
The game featured only a joystick and no buttons for the player to interact with (similarly to Pac-Man and Frogger).[5] The game featured a rendition of the popular "Funkytown" song.[6]
According to the book Gamers: writers, artists & programmers on the pleasures of pixels, this was the first arcade video game to have a continuation feature.[7]
The game ran on the SNK 6502 arcade system board,[8] also known as the SNK Rockola hardware.[9] Other games that ran on the same hardware include Sasuke vs. Commander (1980), Zarzon (1981) and Vanguard (1981).[8][9]
