The Faculty of Health at Birmingham City University was formed in 1995 by a merger of Birmingham and Solihull College of Nursing and Midwifery, West Midlands School of Radiography and the then University of Central England. In 2002, the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM) joined the university to offer Ministry of Defence students and nurses better key skills in nurse training.

Mary Seacole library

There are eight libraries across the different sites at Birmingham City University. The new, state-of-the-art Seacole library and learning centre is at Edgbaston campus. There are a range of information and reference materials from databases and electronic journals to CD-ROMs, videos, books and slides.

The Seacole library at Edgbaston campus has one of the UK's largest specialist health education libraries. .
