Expedito Jose M. Mejia (born 7 April 1970 in Manila, Philippines) is the current head coach of the Philippines national rugby union team having been appointed in November, 2009.[1][2] In his first year he guided the Volcanoes to the Asian Five Nations 2010 Division II title thereby earning promotion to Division I for 2011.[3] He is a former first grade colts coach at Gordon RFC (2007), first grade coach at Penrith Emus Rugby (2009) in the Sydney Premiership Competition and backs coach for the Australian Barbarians in 2009 and 2010. He was the Coach Education Coordinator (CEC) at the New South Wales Rugby Union (Waratahs) and the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) in 2008 and 2009. Expo is also contracted as a consultant coach to various rugby teams in Japan and to the Las Vegas Blackjacks RFC. Expo was a former secondary school Mathematics teacher and Director of Rugby at Redfield College in Sydney, Australia and Mount Albert Grammar School in Auckland, New Zealand. At the moment he is both a teacher and Director of Rugby at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview.
In 2014, he made a triumphant return to Warrane College. He coached such greats as Callum Yates and with Roy Atherton (see Gull) as Assistant to the Coach, guided Warrane to a miracle win for the David Barker Cup also displaying his trademark characteristic of achieving results in the midst of poor support staff (as mentioned previously). This solidified and validated his coaching legacy.
