Expo Latino is Calgary's Hottest Outdoor Festival, and Western Canada's Largest latin Festival, featuring World Class performances, Sizzling Dancing, Exotic foods, Art Market and lots of fun celebrating the Latin culture. The event is held annually on the last weekend of August at Prince's Island Park,located in the heart of Calgary's downtown, which gives the audience an spectacular Latin Experience only found in Latin America. It has become one of the largest outdoor three-days weekend event in Calgary and Canada's leading Latin Festival representing 21 Spanish speaking nations plus Brazil. It holds musical performances of many genres in Music and Dance including: Salsa, Timba, Latin Jazz, Merengue, Folk, Flamenco, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Music from the Andes, Tango, Bachata and many other Latin fusions. In addition to the high energy main stage and our large dance floor, authentic food and merchandise vendors can be found at the festival, as well as information booths of Latin organizations and community services in Calgary.
In 2016, Expo Latino will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary and will feature many world known artist such as Superstar "Haila", Multiple Latin Grammy Awards Winner, Grupo Mania from Puerto Rico; Salsa Orquestra group "Latin Expressions's"; along with many national and local artists. From humble beginnings 18 years ago at Eau Claire, to the largest festival venue in Calgary, Expo Latino has generated huge success and this year's attendance is expected to exceed 65,000 people from Calgary, Western Canada and NorthWest USA. Calgary boasts a large number of very successful artists including Juno Award Winner, Oscar Lopez, Eric Caty and Kelly Lannan of SalsaRica who have been choreographers on all 3 seasons of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, and many others which contribute to make Calgary the Cultural Capital for 2012 .
Expo Latino is produced by the Hispanic Arts Society, a non-profit Arts organization celebrating its 25th anniversary of showcasing unique artistic stage productions and special events celebrating Latin/Hispanic Culture.
