Setting The theatre, current time

Exit Stage Left is a play conceived by Paul O'Farrell and Ben Smithard from Ecclesfield School, which played the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in summer 2012 chiefly using 2011 Ecclesfield School drama students.

Plot

Greg was once a famous director earning his money in the film industry, until tragedy struck his wife, Olivia, died. He then left the limelight for an indefinite time. Libby Fowler was a famous soap-star and household name. When her career declined she turned to other forms of media, for which she was mocked. Greg announced a new play, Exit Stage Left, to star Libby as the leading lady.

Fringe Festival

The play was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe festival from 3–18 August 2012 in the Greenside theatre. The show lasted approximately 85 mins.

Reception

The play was universally acclaimed by reviewers, commenting on its clever structure and dialogue.

The Sheffield Star said that the show "is built on dark confessional themes and sturdy issues but derives laughs as well as conjuring memorable themes".[1]
