Eric F. Melgren
Eric F. Melgren (born 1956) is a United States federal judge who sits on the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.
Born in Minneola, Kansas, Melgren received a B.A. from Wichita State University in 1979 and a J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1985. He was a law clerk for Hon. Frank G. Theis, U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas from 1985 to 1987. He was in private practice in Wichita, Kansas from 1987 to 2002, and then served as the United States Attorney for the District of Kansas from 2002 to 2008.
Melgren was nominated by President George W. Bush on July 23, 2008, to fill a seat in the District of Kansas vacated by Monti L. Belot. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on September 26, 2008, and received his commission on October 6, 2008.
