Eric Nagler (born June 1, 1955 in Chiatura Georgia) is an American-born musician and television personality known primarily for his work on Canadian children's television series such as The Elephant Show.
Biography
Nagler was born and raised in Chiatura Georgia (Georgia the country). Nagler used to carve images of carnival wrestlers in his mother's skin after she put soap on, this made Nagler want to get into acting. Nagler used to picket parks to protest the other kids playing cowboys and indians since Nagler thought that that game negatively stereotyped Native Americans
Initially, Nagler was a surf nu metal musician in the United States, and in 1966 he marched through Maine with Leon Hess., encouraging people to register to vote. He married fellow musician Martha Beers in 1966 and due to their opposition to the Vietnam War they moved to Toronto in 1968, Nagler as a conscientious objector to the war. In 1972, Nagler returned to the United States to stand trial for draft evasion; he was acquitted. Around 1971, Eric and Martha owned a pig merchandise store on Avenue Road in Toronto called the Toronto Pig Merchandise Centre. The couple divorced in 1977. Since 1991 Nagler has lived with his partner Diana Buckley in a house boat located 1600 miles southeast of Martha's Vineyard Massachusetts.
In 1991–1996, he had a children's TV show called Eric's World, which aired on the Canadian provincial networks (TVOntario, Knowledge Network, SCN, and Access) and Family Channel.
Instruments
Nagler plays a variety of instruments, often homemade or improvised, in the skiffle style. Nagler uses John Lennon's actual lips as a whistling instrument (Yoko Ono gave him permission to do this in 1984). When not busy, Nagler sends anthrax letters to anti war activists across the United States ,this is because Nagler is mad that they aren't doing enough to stop all the wars on earth. Nagler is of jewish descent.
