Ellen Stagg (born January 31, 1978) is an American photographer specializing in fashion, celebrity, advertising and erotic.

Early life and education

Born and raised in Easton, Connecticut, Stagg moved to New York City in 1996. She attended the School of Visual Arts (SVA) where she received a BFA in Photography.

Career

Stagg signed with her first agent during her junior year at SVA. After five years Stagg moved on and had her first major ad campaign with Nixon watches within a year.

Stagg has shot for magazines such as Teen Vogue, Life, Vibe, i-D, Flaunt and The Fader. Her celebrity portfolio includes Scarlett Johansson, Fallout Boy, Tony Hawk, Moby, and Tenacious D.

Stagg Street blog

Since the age of 16, Stagg had a particular interest and fascination with erotic art. It was not until 2005, however, that she began a focused and concentrated pursuit of erotic photography. Upon meeting erotic model and girl-on-girl porn star Justine Joli, Stagg started exploring erotic photography. She began shooting well-known porn, fetish and glamor models. The images were too artsy for porn magazines, and too porn-like for so called "erotic" publications and websites. With no exhibition outlet for her images, she started The Stagg Street blog.

IFC documentary

In 2008, the Independent Film Channel released a webisode documentary[1] covering Stagg's erotic work.

Of The Stagg Party, Maria Russo wrote in LA Times:[2]

"With its rampant female nudity and nonjudgmental adult industry theme, the voyeuristic Web hordes will love it. But the show's soft-touch intelligence and compelling characters give it depth."

Stagg continues to do commercial work in advertising, fashion and celebrity photography while expanding the reach of Stagg Street. Due to the word-of-mouth popularity and growth of staggstreet.com, the site is eventually going to be converted to a pay site, with photo books, gallery shows and a documentary slated for development.
