Edward Calvert Nixon (born May 3, 1930) is an American entrepreneur and the youngest and last surviving brother of former United States President Richard Nixon. He coauthored his memoir, The Nixons: A Family Portrait, with Karen L. Olson. The book was published in 2009.
Early life
Born in Whittier, California, Edward is the youngest child of Francis and Hannah Nixon. In addition to his brother, Richard, Edward had three other siblings: Harold Nixon (June 1, 1909 – March 7, 1933), Donald Nixon (November 23, 1914 – June 27, 1987) and Arthur Nixon (May 26, 1918 – August 10, 1925).
Nixon graduated from Duke University with a BS in 1952 and from North Carolina State College with an MS in 1954.[1] Both degrees were in geology.
Watergate
In 1974, Nixon was the first witness for the defense in the Maurice Stans and John N. Mitchell conspiracy trial.[2] He contradicted the testimony of two of the government's chief witnesses. Later that year, the staff of the Senate Watergate committee disclosed additional information to support the charge that Charles Rebozo gave or lent part of a $100,000 "campaign contribution" to President Nixon's personal secretary Rose Mary Woods, and to Edward and Donald Nixon.[3]
Nixon World Enterprises, Inc.
Nixon is currently president of Nixon World Enterprises, Inc., a service company based in Washington state.[4]
Personal life
Edward Nixon is the last surviving member of the five Nixon brothers, in the wake of brother Richard's death in 1994. He is also the longest-lived of the Nixon brothers.
Edward Nixon married Gay Lynne Nixon June 1, 1957.[5] They would be married for 56 years until Gay's death on January 20, 2014.[6]
