Edwin J. Merrick was the 26th head college football coach for the University of Richmond Spiders located in Richmond, Virginia and he held that position for fifteen seasons, from 1951 until 1965. His career coaching record at Richmond was 53 wins, 87 losses, and 6 ties. This ranks him second at Richmond in total wins and 19th at Richmond in winning percentage.[2]
He was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 1980.
