Echinix is a genus of air-breathing land semi-slugs.[1] Echinix is the only genus in the family Echinichidae,[1] terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Xanthonychoidea.[1] This genus and family was described in December 2012.[1]

Distribution

The family Echinichidae is endemic to states Tamaulipas and Querétaro in northeastern Mexico.[1]

Description

Species in the genus Echinix are semi-slugs, which have their shells completelly hidden under the mantle.[1] There are numerous glandular papillae on the dorsal part of the body.[1] Dart sac is a part of its reproductive system.[1]
