Easwari Engineering College (EEC), a division of Sri Ramaswamy Memorial (SRM) Group of Educational Institutions for higher learning, was instituted in 1996, with the approval of the government of Tamil Nadu and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), New Delhi. The college is affiliated to Anna University Chennai. The college functions under the aegis of the four-decade old Valliammai Society. The society was founded for promoting the cause of education by Dr. T. R. Pachamuthu, an academician and educationist.[1]

The college offers seven undergraduate and seven postgraduate programs covering Engineering and Technology, Computer Applications and 'Management'. The national Board of Accreditation has already accredited the courses offered by the college except Civil Engineering, which was commenced in 2007.

Easwari Engineering College has seven multi-storeyed academic blocks and two workshop blocks:

The buildings house laboratories, Centres of Excellence, classrooms, "smart" classrooms, drawing halls, conference halls, offices for HODs, staff rooms,seminar halls, department libraries and other facilities as per AICTE norms and standards.

Departments

SRM EEC Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in 2003-2004. The department offers a four-year (eight semesters) B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) degree program of Anna University.

The department offers a B.E degree programme in Mechanical Engineering. Research is being done on thermal, manufacturing engineering, production management, and supply chain management.

The department releases a monthly newsletter, Quest, which publishes departmental activities and technical articles from faculty members and students. An editorial board of faculty members and students publish the newsletter.

Apart from about 500 titles and 1700 volumes of text and reference books in the field of mechanical Eegineering in the central library, the department library has about 150 volumes. The Central Library subscribes to national and international journals and magazines in mechanical engineering with web account for IEEE and IEE journals and magazines.

The college has membership in libraries like the British Council Library, IIT Madras Library and the Anna University Library.

SRM EEC Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2007 with an annual intake of 60 students.

Students study engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, solid mechanics, environmental engineering and sciences which are relevant for civil engineering and technology. These are taught in theall years of study, as per the syllabus of Anna University.

SRM EEC Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was established in 1996.

The first-year core curriculum is a basic foundation in engineering. Students can later specialise in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. Classroom learning is complemented by use of labs, projects and hands-on experience.

The department develops long-term relationships with the industry, and conducts seminars, symposia, workshops and conferences.

It uses a semester system spread over a period of four years. The programme is affiliated to Anna university.

The annual intake is 120.

The department is recognized as a zonal research centre for pursuing M.S and Ph.D programs by both Anna University-Chennai and Anna University of Technology-Chennai.

SRM EEC Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in 1996.

The first-year core curriculum is a basic foundation in engineering. Students can later specialise in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Classroom learning is complemented by use of labs, projects and hands-on experience.
