The Eastern Region Women's Football League is at the fifth and sixth levels of the English women's football pyramid, with the seven other Regional Leagues – London & SE, Southern, South West, East Mids, West Mids, North East and North West. The Eastern Region Women's Football League feeds directly into the South East Combination Women's Football League, and lies above the Cambs & Hunts WFL, Essex County Women's Football League, Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Women's Football League, Norfolk County Women's Football League and Suffolk County Women's Football League in the pyramid. The pyramid structure was founded in 1998.

The Eastern Region Women's Football League includes teams from the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, plus a team each from London and Northamptonshire who were part of the league prior to the reorganisation of the women's football pyramid.

Below the Premier Division the two Division Ones are split geographically with Division One South including teams from Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire and Division 1 North including teams from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Prior to 2007–08 the Division Oness were split into East and West with Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire in the West and Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk in the East.
