East West Bus Company is a privately owned bus operator in Melbourne, Australia. As a Melbourne bus company, it operates two bus routes under contract to the Government of Victoria.
History
East West Bus Company was formed in August 1980 as a joint venture between Dyson Group and Reservoir Bus Company operating route 560 Broadmeadows station to Greensborough.[1][2] Route 560 ceased in April 2010 being replaced by SmartBus route 902.
In February 2014 the Dyson Group became the sole owner.[3]
Routes
East West operate just two routes in the northern and north eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
- 561 Macleod - Pascoe Vale via Macleod station, La Trobe University, Reservoir station & Coburg station (Daily)
- 570 RMIT University, Bundoora - Thomastown via Lalor Plaza Shopping Centre (Monday to Friday)
Former routes included:
- 560 Greensborough - Broadmeadows discontinued in April 2010 and replaced with 902 Green Orbital SmartBus)
- 'Temporary' 560 Pascoe Vale - Coburg North, introduced due to the relocation of the local Coles Supermarket 1 km east along Gaffney Street. Operated August 8, 2015 to January 2, 2016, since been replaced by an extension of 561 west to Pascoe Vale.
- 571 Trainlink Epping, Victoria - South Morang Railway Station / Westfield Plenty Valley superseded with the extension of the Epping Line to South Morang in April 2012. Previously ran between Roxburgh Park & Morang South Primary School until September 2010 when it was absorbed into 901 Yellow Orbital SmartBus.
- 571A Roxburgh Park - Epping Railway Station between February 2006 & September 2007, later replaced by an extension of the regular 571 from Campbellfield to Roxburgh Park to coincide with the extension of electric trains from Broadmeadows to Craigieburn.
- 901 Frankston - Melbourne Airport Yellow Orbital SmartBus on a sub-contractor basis to primary operator Grenda's and later Ventura until the route was taken over by Transdev in August 2013.
- 902 Chelsea - Airport West Yellow Orbital SmartBus on sub-contractor basis to primary operator Grenda's and later Ventura until the route was taken over by Transdev in August 2013.
Fleet
As at May 2013 East West Bus Service's operated a fleet of 17 buses.[4]
