Drumcong (Irish: Droim Conga, Ridge of the Cong, or narrow neck.[1]) is a village in County Leitrim, Ireland on the banks of Lough Scur and Carrickport Lough. The Village consists of St. Bridget's National School(also known as Drumcong Central School[2]),There is a Roman Catholic church in Drumcong, St. Brigid's Church, a barn church which is beautifully restored and is still very much in use today. There is a Pub and Shop (The Lakeside Tavern) which serves the village. This business is owned and operated by James and Eilis Cardiff.[3] Drumcong is classed as a Tier 4 Village in Leitrim County Council's Development Plan 2009–2015[4]
Location
Drumcong is location between Ballinamore and Carrick-on-Shannon on the R208 road.
Transport
The village of Drumcong was formerly known as Kiltubrid Railway Station from whence the village grew. The station was opened on 16 June 1885 and was closed on 18 October 1958.
