Drigh

The Drigh is a Baloch tribe and is found in the provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, Pakistan. They live mainly along the banks of the Indus, Chenab, and Sutlej Rivers. The tribe has its origins in the Kirman and Makran regions.

The Drigh reside in the Districts of Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Muzafar Garh, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, and Faisalabad in Punjab. In Sind, they are settled in Districts of Ghotki, Larkana, Khairpur, Dadu, Hyderabad, Badin, Nawab Shah and Karachi. In Balochistan the Drigh live in Mastong, Qalat, Osta Muhammad, Jafarabad, Naseerabad, and Sibbi Districts.

The Drigh tribe migrated to Sindh and Punjab during 8th century. Drighs remained allied with Mir Chakar Khan Rind and Mir Naseer Khan Rind, the last Baloch Chief before British rule. During the 16th century, Drighs of Sindh and Balochistan moved to Bahawalpur, merged with the Abbasi family and received land grants for their loyalty. Sardar Sultan Mehmood Drigh was the last ruler of Jalalpur Pirwala.
