Alex Blandino (born November 6, 1992) is an American baseball infielder in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He played college baseball at Stanford. He was drafted by the Reds in the first round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.

Blandino was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 38th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft out of St. Francis High School in Mountain View, California.[1] He did not sign and attended Stanford University. He played for the Cardinal From 2012 to 2014, hitting .292/.372/.504 with 27 home runs in 157 games.

Blandino was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.[2][3][4]

Jake Cave

Andrew Jacob Cave (born December 7, 1992) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Cave was drafted by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft out of Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia. He made his professional debut that season for the Gulf Coast Yankees. In his first game he fractured his kneecap in a collision at home plate.[5] The injury caused him to miss the rest of the season as well as the entire 2012 season.

Cave returned in 2013 to play 113 games for the Charleston RiverDogs. He finished the year hitting .282/.347/.401 with two home runs. Cave started the 2014 season with the Tampa Yankees.[6] After hitting .304/.354/.395 and three home runs in 90 games with Tampa, he was promoted to the Double-A Trenton Thunder in July.[7][8]

Cave was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2015 Rule 5 Draft.[9]

William Theron Davis (born April 29, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Davis attended Dixon High School in Holly Ridge, North Carolina. As a 15-year-old in early 2009, he committed to play college baseball at East Carolina University.[10] Davis was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 14th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft.[11] He signed with the Yankees instead of attending East Carolina.[12] He made his professional debut in 2012 with the Gulf Coast Yankees. In 2013 he pitched for the Staten Island Yankees and Charleston RiverDogs and spent 2014 with Charleston.[13] He started 2015 with the Tampa Yankees.[14] The Yankees added him to their 40-man roster after the season.[15]

On December 28, 2015, Davis was traded to the Reds with Caleb Cotham, Tony Renda, and Eric Jagielo in exchange for Aroldis Chapman.[16]

Brandon Dixon

Brandon Allen Dixon (born January 29, 1992) is an American professional baseball second baseman for the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Dixon was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

On December 16, 2015, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds (with José Peraza and Scott Schebler) in a three team trade that sent Frankie Montas, Micah Johnson and Trayce Thompson to the Dodgers and Todd Frazier to the Chicago White Sox.[17]

Juan Duran

Juan Albert Duran (born September 2, 1991) is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds organization.

He signed with the Cincinnati Reds as an international free agent in February 2008 for a $2 million bonus.[18][19]

Duran played for the Bakersfield Blaze of the Class A-Advanced California League in 2013. He hit three home runs on his 22nd birthday.[20] In 111 games in 2013, he batted .251 with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs. He added 55 runs, 15 doubles, and three triples.[21] The Reds added Duran to their 40-man roster after the 2013 season.[22] He was placed on the minor league disabled list on August 21, 2014, after suffering multiple injuries as a result of a hit by pitch. Duran joined the Arizona League Reds in June 2015, and was assigned to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on July 1. He spent the rest of the season at the Double A level, hitting .256 with six homers and 43 RBIs in 59 appearances.[18] The Reds placed him on the restricted list on February 5, 2016 as he had tested positive for three separate anabolic steroids.[18]

Ismael Guillon

Ismael Jose Guillon Carache (born February 13, 1992) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

The Cincinnati Reds signed Guillon as an international free agent in November 2008, giving Guillon a $625,000 signing bonus.[23] They added Guillon to their 40-man roster after the 2012 season.[24] He was designated for assignment on February 7, 2015.[25]

Drew Hayes

Andrew Trent Hayes (born September 3, 1987) is an American professional baseball relief pitcher currently with the Triple-A Louisville Bats of the Cincinnati Reds minor league system.

Prior to playing professionally, he attended McKenzie High School in McKenzie, Tennessee, whence he was drafted in the 29th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, a few picks ahead of outfielder Khris Davis.[26] He did not sign a contract.

He initially attended Bethel College before transferring to Vanderbilt University,[27] where he played three seasons. In his first season there, 2008, he was 2-1 with a 3.51 ERA in 21 games (three starts). In 2009, he was 4-3 with a 5.56 ERA in 18 games (six starts), while averaging more than a strikeout an inning for the second straight season. He also went 3-0 with a 1.25 ERA in 10 games for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League. The Seattle Mariners took him in the 22nd round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, but again he did not sign a contract. Back with Vanderbilt in 2010, he was 6-0 with a 3.91 ERA 24 games (five starts). He was listed among the best draft prospects from Tennessee that year.[28] The Reds drafted him in the 11th round of that year's draft and he inked a contract.

He pitched for the Billings Mustangs in 2010, appearing in 14 games and going 1-3 with a 2.42 ERA. In 2011, he was 2-2 with 22 saves and a 1.35 ERA in 51 games for the Dayton Dragons, striking out 89 batters and allowing only 29 hits in 60 frames. MLB.com named him the Class A Relief Pitcher of the Year and MiLB.com named him an Organization All-Star.[29] He was also a Midwest League Post-Season All-Star. With the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2012, he was 2-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 56 games. In 2013, he posted a 5.43 ERA and allowed 73 hits in 63 innings with the Blue Wahoos. He played in the Arizona Fall League in both 2012 and 2013. He spent 2014 with Pensacola and was 5-3 with a 4.06 ERA in 52 games, again averaging more than a strikeout per inning. For the fourth year in a row, he was with Pensacola to start 2015, but was promoted to the Louisville Bats partway through the campaign.[30]

In 2013, he was named among the Reds' best prospects.[31] He has appeared at spring training with the major league club each year since 2012.

Stephen Alexander Johnson (born February 21, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Johnson played college baseball at St. Edward's University. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.[32] On August 20, 2015, Johnson was traded by the Giants to the Cincinnati Reds for Marlon Byrd.[33] After the season, the Reds added him to their 40-man roster.[34]

Tyler F. Mahle (born September 29, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Mahle attended Westminster High School in Westminster, California.[35] He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the seventh round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft.[36] He signed with the Reds and made his professional debut with the Arizona League Reds. He spent 2014 with the Billings Mustangs and 2015 with the Dayton Dragons.[37][38]

His brother, Greg Mahle, plays in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization.

Seth Mejias-Brean

Seth Mejias-Brean (born April 5, 1991) is a professional baseball third baseman for the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Mejias-Brean attended the University of Arizona, where he played college baseball for the Arizona Wildcats baseball team and was a member of the national champion 2012 Arizona Wildcats baseball team. He was selected by the Reds in the eighth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.[39]

In 2012, he was named a Pioneer League post-season All-Star.[40] He was rated as the 17th-best prospect in the Reds organization prior to the 2013 season.[41]


Keury Mella

Keury Mella (born August 2, 1993) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Mella signed with the San Francisco Giants as an international free agent in 2011.[42] He made his professional debut in 2012 with the Dominican Summer League Giants. He spent 2013 with Arizona League Giants and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and 2014 with the Augusta GreenJackets.[43][44]

On July 30, 2015, Mella and Adam Duvall were traded to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Mike Leake.[45]

Chris O'Grady

Christopher Ryan O'Grady (born April 17, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

O'Grady attended Clarkstown High School North in New City, New York, where he played baseball and American football. Playing as a quarterback, O'Grady tore three ligaments in his right knee, which resulted in his missing his senior season at Clarkstown North. He enrolled at George Mason University and played college baseball for the George Mason Patriots.[46] The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim selected him in the 10th round of the 2012 MLB Draft.[47] The Cincinnati Reds selected him in the 2015 Rule 5 draft.[48]

O'Grady's older brother, T.J., also played college baseball for George Mason.[46]

Cody Reed

Cody A. Reed (born April 15, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Reed attended Horn Lake High School in Horn Lake, Mississippi. He holds numerous school baseball records and his number is retired.[49] After high school he attended Northwest Mississippi Community College to play college baseball.

Reed was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft.[50] He made his professional debut with the Idaho Falls Chukars. Reed pitched 2014 with the Lexington Legends and started 2015 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks. In June, he was selected to be the starting pitcher for Carolina in the California-Carolina League All-Star Game.[51][52] After the game he was promoted to the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Reed was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, along with John Lamb and Brandon Finnegan, for Johnny Cueto on July 26, 2015.[53]

Sal Romano

Salvatore Romano (born October 12, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Romano was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 23rd round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft out of Southington High School in Southington, Connecticut.[36] He signed with the Reds and made his professional debut in 2012 with the Billings Mustangs. He spent 2013 and 2014 with the Dayton Dragons.[54][55] He spent 2015 with the Daytona Tortugas and Pensacola Blue Wahoos.[56][57] After the season, the Reds added him to their 40-man roster.[34]

Kevin Shackelford

Kevin R. Shackelford (born April 7, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Shackelford attended Marshall University, where he played college baseball for the Marshall Thundering Herd.[58] He played as a catcher for his first two seasons at Marshall before becoming a pitcher.[59] The Milwaukee Brewers selected Shackelford in the 21st round of the 2010 MLB Draft.[60]

Playing for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Class A Midwest League in 2012, the Timber Rattlers won the Midwest League championship. In 2013, the Brewers assigned Shackelford to the Arizona Fall League, where he was a member of the championship-winning Surprise Saguaros.[61] After the 2013 season, the Brewers added Shackelford to their 40-man roster.[22] He was designated for assignment on July 17, 2014, to make room for Irving Falu.[62]

In 2014, Shackelford pitched for the Brevard County Manatees of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League and the Huntsville Stars of the Class AA Southern League. After the completion of the minor league season, the Brewers sent Shackelford and Barrett Astin to the Reds to complete their August trade for Jonathan Broxton.[63]

Tyler Stephenson (born August 16, 1996) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Cincinnati Reds' organization.

Stephenson attended Kennesaw Mountain High School in Kennesaw, Georgia. He was committed to Georgia Tech to play college baseball.[64]

Stephenson was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds as the 11th pick in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft.[65][66] He has been compared to Matt Wieters.[67] The Reds signed Stephenson and assigned him to the Billings Mustangs of the Rookie-level Pioneer League.[68]

Nicholas D. Travieso (born January 31, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Travieso was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft out of Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, Florida.[69][70] He made his professional debut that season for the Arizona League Reds. He played 2013 for the Dayton Dragons and returned there to start the 2014 season.[71]

Chad Arthur Wallach (born November 4, 1991) is an American professional baseball catcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Wallach played college baseball at Cal State Fullerton.

Wallach was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the fifth round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft.[72]

On December 11, 2014, Wallach along with Anthony DeSclafani were traded from the Marlins to the Cincinnati Reds for Matt Latos.[73]

His father, Tim Wallach, played in Major League Baseball.[74]

Zachary D. Weiss (born June 16, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Weiss was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 10th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft out of Northwood High School in Irvine, California. He did not sign and attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to play college baseball. He was then drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the sixth round of the 2013 MLB Draft.[75] He signed with the Reds and made his professional debut with the Arizona League Reds and also played for the Billings Mustangs that year. Weiss spent 2014 with the Dayton Dragons and 2015 with Daytona Tortugas and Pensacola Blue Wahoos.[76] He had a Pensacola record 25 saves and 30 saves in total between the two teams.[77] After the season he played in the Arizona Fall League.
