Doris Miles Disney
Doris Miles Disney (December 22, 1907 – March 9, 1976) was an American mystery writer. She wrote 49 novels. Many of them were best sellers, and several were made into feature films or TV movies.[1]
She was born Doris Miles in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and married George J. Disney in 1936. She died in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Most of Disney's main characters were based on acquaintances of herself or her daughter, Elizabeth, a writer and theatrical actress. Disney had worked in the publicity field and in the insurance business, and one of the recurring sleuths in her novels was an insurance investigator.
(Doris Miles Disney should not be confused with journalist and marital advice columnist Dorothy Cameron Disney, no relation, who began her writing career as a mystery novelist.)
