Dora Gorman (born 18 February 1993) is an Irish international footballer, who plays for UCD Waves.
Club career
Gorman began her career with local side Salthill Devon, helping them to the 2010 FAI Women's Cup final, where they eventually lost out 4-2 to Peamount United.[1] The following year, Gorman signed for Peamount, upon the formation of the National Women's League in 2011. During the 2011-12 season Gorman scored twice as Peamount went on to secure the inaugural league title.[2] Peamount were also the first League Cup champions, beating Shamrock Rovers 1-0 in the final, but lost out to Raheny United in the FAI Women's Cup final, Gorman's second such defeat.
For Gorman, the 2012-13 season was plagued by a persistent hamstring injury, while Peamount went on to finish second in the league, behind Raheny, and claim a second successive league cup, beating Castlebar Celtic 6-3 in the final.
Gorman made an impressive return for the 2013-14 season, but Peamount again finished second behind Raheny in the league.
Prior to the 2014-15 season, Gorman signed for UCD Waves. In November 2014, she suffered defeat in her third FAI Women's Cup final, losing 2-1 to Raheny after extra time.
International career
Gorman represented her country at numerous underage levels, and made headlines as captain of the Republic of Ireland team that made it to the quarter final stage of the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago. She made her senior international debut in October 2011, in Ireland's 2–0 UEFA Women's Euro 2013 qualifying win over Israel in Dublin. She created Ireland's second goal for Ciara Grant a minute after entering play as an 86th-minute substitute.[3]
Personal life
Gorman studies medicine at UCD where she is a classmate of close friend, international and club teammate Ciara Grant.
