Diply is a website for viral marketing that launched in November 2013. Diply focuses on sharing creative ideas, projects and people. It uses virality and clickbait to promote its stories.
History
In early 2013, the company behind Diply was created with a loan from Taylor Ablitt's father and Ablitt told him he hoped the startup would become one of Canada's 1,500 most popular sites.[1] The company has not received further outside funding and the loan was paid off by the end of 2013.[1]
In August 2014, according to Quantcast, Diply was the 20th most popular site in the US with 54 million monthly unique visitors and globally, they had 120 million monthly unique visitors.[2] In December 2015, it was the 24th most popular site in Canada.
The website gained in popularity via partnering with influential social media accounts, primarily on Facebook, but also on Twitter and Google+.[3]
