Die Heuwels Fantasties (English: The Hills Fantastic) is an Afrikaans electronic band from Bellville, South Africa.

Die Heuwels Fantasties is composed of Hunter Kennedy (also member of Fokofpolisiekar & formerly of aKING), Pierre Greeff (also member of Lukraaketaar) and Fred den Hartog (also member of Thieve).

First Album, Die Heuwels Fantasties

Their self-titled debut album contains contributions by Francois Van Coke (Fokofpolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel), Laudo Liebenberg (aKING), Adriaan Brand (Springbok Nude Girls), Neil Basson (Foto na Dans) and Jack Parow. The album was released on 19 March 2009 and is the third release by Hunter and Pierre's music label, Supra Familias.

Even before the album's launch, Die Heuwels Fantasties released two singles as free downloads on Last.fm which attracted thousands of listeners. These tracks reached number one on various campus radio stations and the first music video, Vinger Alleen, spent three weeks at number one on Afrikaans television music channel, MK. This track also earned them a nomination for Best Video at the MK Awards in March 2009, even without having played a single gig.[1]

They finally launched an electronic version of the phenomenon at Avontoer’s Groot Gees Rock Fees on Boxing Day 2008. Their limited-release USB flash drive EP, ‘Pille Vir Kersfees’ (fashioned to look like a large pill capsule), sold out within weeks.[2]

Their first single, "Vinger Aleen", as well as the single "Pille vir Kersfees" was included on the Bellville Rock City compilation CD, along with the music video for the same song.[3]

Wilder as die Wildtuin

The band's second studio album, Wilder as die Wildtuin, was released on March 11, 2011. It is their first release since the song "Doodegewone Aand" was featured on the soundtrack for the Afrikaans film Bakgat 2. This is the first album featuring newest band member, Phillip Erasmus, on the drum kit.

The album is clearly distinct from their former electro-pop centered style, leaning more towards a pop-rock sound. As with their first album, it features many guest artists. It is a diverse recording with slow, melodic songs like "Wonder bo Wonder", which is reminiscent of the first album's "Klein Tambotieboom", whereas other tracks like "Heel Te Mal" maintain the band's electro legacy.
