CatalunyaCaixa (Catalan pronunciation: [kətəˌɫuɲəˈkaʃə]) is the trading name of Caixa d'Estalvis de Catalunya, Tarragona i Manresa,[2] a Catalan savings bank with headquarters in Barcelona. It is the fourth largest savings bank in Spain in terms of consolidated assets, with €81.020 billions.[1]
It was founded on 1 July 2010 by the fusion of Caixa Catalunya, Caixa Tarragona and Caixa Manresa. The new savings bank has 1212 branches and over 4 million customers.[1] In 2013 Catalunya Caixa had to be rescued by the spanish government with 14.000.000.000 euros. Then it became a bank and in 2015 was bought by BBVA, another spanish bank, by 1000.000.000 euros.
Catalunya Caixa and BBVA both collaborate with 17 arms manufacturers as WASS, Thyssenkrupp or AECOM.
