Dharam Veer is a period drama. It is a fictional tale of two princes by the names of Dharam and Veer and their adventures as they traverse the path of life. It is presented by Sagar Pictures.

Plot

The story begins with the introduction to the 13th century kingdom of Aryanagar—a land divided into the royalty (the Aryavarts) and the slaves (the Shramiks). While the Aryavarts are in charge of managing the affairs of the state and caring for the needs of the slaves, the Shramiks fulfill their duties towards the state by devoting their lives and work towards the welfare of the kingdom. The king, Aryavardhan, believes that the system works well for the welfare of the kingdom. However, unknown to him, there is dissent and frustration creeping in amongst the slaves brought on by the humiliation and brutality they have to face at the hands of the older brother of Aryavardhan: Jaivardhan.

Seeing Jaivardhan mercilessly whip an old man unable to fulfill his tasks, Soma, a young slave, dares to voice his dissent. While Aryavardhan gives him his freedom banishing him from the kingdom, Jaivardhan makes a mockery of this decision by killing Soma.

It is in this time and place that Soma’s son takes birth believed by the slaves to be the messiah who will save them for the tyranny of the Aryavarts and give them the freedom they long for. Aryavardhan and Jaivardhan are informed about the birth of the messiah of the slaves, the destroyer of the centuries-old traditions and regime of the Aryavarts.

Jaivardhan decides to take matters into his own hands. He sets the entire slave colony ablaze, killing all newborn children to ensure that the messiah fails to see the dawn of day. But Soma's wife, Pari gives birth to their son and tries to escape, along with her elder daughter, Sakshi from Jaivardhan and his soldiers.

In order to save her son's life from the soldiers, she puts her son in a basket and throws the basket into the river. Aryavardhan and Jaivardhan's widowed sister, Nivriti finds the basket and decides to adopt the child and bring him up as her own son.

She lies to everyone that the child is her son.Aryavardhan is happy by knowing that his sister gave birth to a son and names him Veer.

Both Dharam and Veer grow up together unaware of the fact that both are actually each other's bigger enemies than friends.

Meanwhile,Jaivardhan has decided to make his son,Agni the king of Aryanagar so he sent a dacoit,Shera to kill Dharam.

Shera follows the two rajkumars to a mela and tries to kill Dharam but fails miserably.Meanwhile,Dharam meets a princess called Sia and falls in love with her.

Veer too gets to meet Shera who lies to him that she is a princess called Ananya.

After the boys return from the mela,Aryavardhan decides to send the three rajkumars,Dharam,Veer and Agni to gurukul to train themselves to become rajkumar.

After reaching the gurukul,Dharam and Veer become each other's competitors and later rivals for the throne of Aryanagar. Both try to defeat each other and a sense of rivalry turns their sweet relationship to bitter.

But later, both of them realise that they are inseparable.During the end of their training,Veer again meets Shera and this time, both of them fall in love with each other.Shera changes herself completely due to Veer's love but Veer soon comes to know that Shera is not a princess but a dreaded dacoit who had once tried to kill Dharam.

Heartbroken and angry,he returns to Aryanagar along with Dharam.

Dharam announces to everyone that Veer deserves to be the king of Aryanagar.Aryavardhan announces Veer's coronation ceremony.

This angers the head of the shramiks,Bhimsen and Veer's real mother,Pari and sister Sakshi, who were waiting for so many years for their messiah.Veer revolts against the Aryavrats and grant them freedom as according to his principles no one was to be forced slavery .

Due to a change in fate,Veer finally comes to know the biggest and most bitter truth of his life.He is not an aryavrath but the messiah of shramiks.

On the day of his coronation,he enters the palace as the messiah of shramiks.

Everyone is heartbroken and shocked seeing Veer like that. The Rajya Sabha arrests Veer and throws him in jail.

Dharam is finally coronated as the king of Aryanagar. He releases Veer and tells him to come back but Veer asks him for Shramiks freedom and leaves to stay with his mother and sister.

Dharam and Veer became big enemies of each other and start hating each other.Meanwhile,Dharam meets Sia once again.Veer too meets Shera and forgives her.

Due to misunderstandings created by Jaivardhan and Agni,Dharam and Veer decide to kill each other.

During the end of the drama, they come to know Jaivardhan and Agni's real plans and again reunite and kill both of them.

Veer too comes back to the palace and starts staying with Dharam.

In the end,Dharam and Veer are coronated the kings of Aryanagar and Dharam announces the freedom of shramiks.

The show ends with Dharam and Veer hugging each other.
