Devon and Cornwall Railways
Devon and Cornwall Railways (DCR) is a British freight operating company. DCR is a subsidiary of British American Railway Services (BARS),[1] itself owned by Iowa Pacific Holdings (IPH).[2] IPH purchased the Dartmoor Railway and Weardale Railway in 2008.[3]
Operations
DCR operate freight trains. They planned to operate passenger services between Okehampton and Exeter from May 2010 but this has not yet happened.[4]
2014 Devon and Cornwall Railways (DC Rail)
Since an incident in 2012 [5] the company has been restructured with a new management team and recruitment. Devon and Cornwall Railways now operates as DC Rail.
They are a small but rapidly growing freight company, they currently have contracts for moving the Railvac machine to and from possessions for Rail Care working for Network Rail, also have close working ties with several other freight operators and rolling stock providers.
31601 'Devon Diesel Society'
In May 2015 DCR 31601 was repainted by Devon Diesel Society and named 'Devon Diesel Society'. The newly repainted locomotive was unveiled during a naming ceremony at Buckfastleigh Railway Station on Friday the 22nd May 2015 on the South Devon Railway [5]
