Denguélé (French: District du Denguélé) is one of fourteen administrative districts of Ivory Coast. The district is located in in the northwest corner of the country. The capital of the district is the town of Odienné.
Creation
The district was created in an 2011 administrative reorganisation of the subdivisions of Ivory Coast.[3] The territory of the district was composed of the former Denguélé Region.[1]
Administrative divisions
The district is further subdivided into two regions:
- Folon Region (region seat in Minignan)
- Kabadougou Region (region seat also in Odienné)
Population
According to the preliminary results of the 2014 census, the district has a population of 289,779,[2] making it the least populated district of the country.
