Delby Powless (born July 3, 1980), is a Mohawk lacrosse player from the Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation near Brantford, Ontario. He was born in Six Nations, Ontario, and is the grandnephew of Ross Powless and cousin of Gaylord Powless, both of whom are in the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame. He has played for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse.

Lacrosse career

Junior

Powless played his first season with the Six Nations Jr.B Red Rebles for their inaugural season. He would then play for the Six Nations Arrows for of the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League for the remainder of his junior career.

In 1998, Powless had a career high 122 points, finishing third in league scoring. That same year, he led the Arrows to their a league championship, and was given the "Dean McLeod Award" for Playoffs M.V.P.[1]

Powless finished his junior career with 686 points (regular season and playoffs combined), ranking him 23rd all time in Canadian Junior A lacrosse history.[2]

College

Powless played for Rutgers University. At Rutgers, he received an honourable mention as an All-American.

NLL

Powless was drafted first overall by the Buffalo Bandits in the 2004 NLL entrt draft. During his five years with the Bandits, Powless has totaled 201 points and helped the Bandits to their first NLL championship in years in 2008. In 2010, Powless was released from Bandits so he is currently a free agent.

MLL

In 2009, Powless was claimed from the League Player Pool by Toronto Nationals.

International

Powless played on the Iroquois Nationals team in the inaugural World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in 2003 and again in 2007. Delby also played on the 2006 World Lacrosse Championship, where he scored 18 goals and 23 points and led his team to the fourth place.
