The Indian Scad, Decapterus russelli, is a jack of the genus Decapterus, found in Afro-Indian benthic waters of tropical countries. Its length is usually 40 cm. An ectoparasite, Lernanthropus decapteri is usually found with the fish.

Feeding ecology

The fish is commonly seen in benthic waters and open coastal water banks. It is feed mainly on small planktonic invertebrates.

Human usage

Indian scad is a popular protein source in South Asian countries, where India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka use them as edible food in day-to-day life. The fish is known as "Linna" in Sri Lanka.
