Debi Makhsoospuri (Punjabi : ਦੇਬੀ ਮੱਖਸੂਸਪੂਰੀ ) (born Gurdev Singh Gill on 10 June 1966) is a Punjabi singer, songwriter and poet.

Biography

Makhsoospuri was born on 10 June 1966 in Makhsoospur, a village in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. He currently resides in Canada with his family, including his three daughters.

Career

Makhsoospuri got his first break at the age of 20 as a lyricist when he wrote for the singer Kuldeep Manak. Many of the songs he wrote for Manmohan Waris and Kamal Heer earned him popular acclaim. He became a professional singer himself with his debut album Jad Maa Nayi Rehndi in 1994.[1] He performs live shows under the name "Debi live" all over the world.
