Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty is a British Royal Air Force officer. She took over as Commandant of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets[1] in August 2012 from Air Commodore Barbara Cooper and will serve until 2020. McCafferty is the only Full Time Reserve Officer to have held the post.
Early life
McCafferty was born in the Rhondda Valley, South Wales.
Career
McCafferty joined the RAF in 1988 at the age of 19 as a secretarial officer. She retired in 2006 as Inspector of Recruiting with the rank of group captain.
After leaving the RAF in 2006, McCafferty went on then to set up and run the Royal Air Force Families Federation[2] for five years from 2007 until 2012.
Personal life
She is married to Paul McCafferty, a retired RAF wing commander. They have a daughter and son.
