David Hixon
David Hixon is not retired or retiring ....entering his 37 season as Head Coach for Amherst College
David Hixon is a retired college basketball head coach who spent thirty-six years coaching Amherst College. As head coach, he transformed the Amherst men's basketball program into one of the best in the nation. He was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
Coaching career
Hixon enjoyed a successful coaching career by coaching Amherset College to a 693-252 overall record (.733), which currently ranks among the best in NCAA history and fourth among active Division III coaches. He led the team to 15 NCAA Tournaments, eight of those appearances resulting in a trip to at least the national quarterfinals. He won national championships in 2006-07 and 2012-13.[1]
