David R. Edgerton (born May 26, 1927[1]) is an American entrepreneur and the founder of the Burger King Corporation.

On March 1, 1954, he opened a franchise outlet of the restaurant chain Insta Burger King in Miami, Florida, U.S. On June 1 of the same year, he met James McLamore and the two founded the Burger King Corporation.[2]

Edgerton graduated from Cornell University. He currently serves on the advisory board of Avantcare, Inc.[3]
