David "Dai" Morgan Davies was a Welsh professional rugby league footballer of the 1920s and 1930s, playing at representative level for Wales, and at club level for Broughton Rangers, Warrington, Huddersfield, and Keighley, as a scrum half/half back, i.e. number 7.[1] Dai Davies was on the losing side in four Challenge Cup finals with three separate clubs; Warrington (1928 and 1933), Huddersfield (1935), and Keighley (1937).[2]

Davies won four caps for Wales from 1928 to 1935 while at Warrington.[3]

Challenge Cup final appearances

Davies played in Warrington's 3-5 defeat by Swinton in the 1927-28 Challenge Cup final at Central Park, Wigan on April 1928, and scored two tries in Warrington's 17-21 defeat by Huddersfield in the 1932-33 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium, London on 6 May 1933, and played scrum half/half back in Huddersfield's 8-11 defeat by Castleford in the 1934-35 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium, London on 4 May 1935,[4] and in Keighley's 5-18 defeat by Widnes in the 1936-37 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium, London on 8 May 1937.[5]

County Cup final appearances

Davies played, and scored a try in Warrington's 10-9 victory over St.Helens in the 1932 Lancashire Cup final during the 1932–33 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 19 November 1932.
