Dave Moorcroft (born 16 March 1947 in Liverpool, England)[1] is a footballer who played as centre back for Skelmersdale United, Dallas Tornado in the North American Soccer League, and Tranmere Rovers.[2]

Moorcroft played in the youth team for Everton; he briefly appeared in the Central League for Preston North End before joining Skelmersdale United in 1967. He captained the team in the FA Amateur Cup final, held at Wembley Stadium in front of 85,000 spectators. In 1968, he joined Dallas Tornado in the newly formed North American Soccer League; he made 86 appearances for Dallas as captain.

When the North American Soccer League collapsed, Moorcroft returned to England, signing for Tranmere Rovers in 1969. He stayed there until 1973, and made 124 appearances before a knee injury forced him to retire from the game at age 26. After a short spell as youth team coach at Tranmere, he left the game and had a very successful career in the protective clothing business before opening retail stores in Birmingham.
